The Permobil group, a specialist in assistive technology, acquires the Hyères company Medivar and continues its national expansion.

Hyères, June 15, 2026 – The Permobil group, a European pioneer in advanced technologies for autonomy, today announced the acquisition of Medivar, a historic regional player specializing in disability, mobility, and home care. Established in Hyères for nearly 25 years, Medivar becomes the fifth French company to join the Permobil fold this year, marking an acceleration of the group's strategy to strengthen its presence across the entire territory.

This operation is part of an effort to get closer to end users and healthcare professionals, in order to facilitate access to state-of-the-art wheelchairs and optimize service.

A strategic shift towards direct contact

The acquisition of Medivar is a key step in Permobil's national roll-out in 2026. It follows the acquisitions of Adom Medical in Pessac (Gironde), Espace Medical 93 in Île-de-France, and Beaulieu Médical in Loire and Isère (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes). The objective of this offensive strategy is to establish a direct link between Permobil's teams and users, by removing intermediaries. This proximity aims to streamline communication, shorten delivery and intervention times, and provide tailored solutions more quickly.

With the rise of technically complex wheelchairs, the quality of after-sales service has become a major criterion in choosing a brand for users and healthcare professionals. By directly taking over distribution and after-sales service in France since early 2026, we are asserting our determination to strengthen our link with them
We are proud of this merger with Medivar to perfect our expertise in the PACA region and support users throughout their journey

For Medivar, this integration is seen as a growth opportunity. The company's 12 employees will continue their activities within the new structure.

We will now be able to rely on Permobil's resources and ecosystem to go even further in supporting wheelchair users. Medivar's 12 employees naturally continue their activities to develop a premium service with personalized support, which has built Médivar's reputation for nearly 25 years

A new regulation favorable to innovation

This expansion strategy comes in a regulatory context deemed revolutionary by the sector. Since December 1, 2025, all wheelchairs, whether manual, electric, sports, or adapted, are covered 100% by Assurance Maladie, provided they are prescribed by a healthcare professional. This measure eliminates any remaining out-of-pocket costs for the user and lifts a major financial barrier to acquiring innovative equipment.

This new regulation opens access to innovative equipment to everyone, without the financial criterion being a barrier. This is a major step forward for the autonomy and quality of life of users
In parallel, we are observing a real acceleration of technological innovation in which we want to be a driving force. Today's wheelchairs are smarter, more connected, custom-made. This dual dynamic should enable users to access the most powerful solutions that meet all specific needs
