LA SEYNE-SUR-MER: Living environment – Residents reclaim the placette des Potiers

A participatory project, supported by the Contrat de Ville, will allow residents to redevelop the placette des Potiers. A citizen initiative aimed at transforming and beautifying a shared space is about to materialize in La Seyne-sur-Mer. The redevelopment project for the placette des Potiers, located on rue Beaussier, will be officially presented on Thursday, May 28th at 10 a.m. Driven by the local residents themselves, this initiative is part of an overall effort to improve the living environment and strengthen social ties.

A project born from the Contrat de Ville. This operation to reclaim public space is one of the concrete achievements of the Contrat de Ville. This partnership framework, which associates the State, the municipality of La Seyne-sur-Mer, and the Métropole Toulon Provence Méditerranée (TPM), aims to reduce social and territorial inequalities in priority neighborhoods. By supporting such initiatives, public authorities intend to encourage resident participation in improving their daily environment and foster a dynamic of cohesion.

A collective mobilization. The success of the project relies on the synergy of numerous local actors. It closely involves the residents of the Maison Taddéi, young volunteers performing their civic service within the Unis-Cité association, as well as the MAEFE (Maison d’Animation et d’Échanges Familiaux et Éducatifs) association. These active forces are supervised and supported by the technical expertise of the metropolitan green spaces department and the municipal Cohésion sociale department, which are steering the implementation.

Concrete actions for a better living environment. To breathe new life into the placette, several participatory gardening and painting workshops have been organized. These moments of exchange and collective creation make it possible not only to physically beautify the area, but also to build strong bonds between neighbors of all generations. The objective is twofold: to sustainably improve the living environment and to ensure that residents fully reclaim this shared space, becoming the guarantors of its maintenance and animation. The presentation on May 28th will be an opportunity to discover the fruits of this collective work.
